Yes it would
It would be nice if it all was that simple.
Nothing but the process is infinite
Eternal, endless, indefinite

Rebuilding a program can be simple. First thing you have to do when ya go in is identify the players who will stick with it regardless...and identify the dead wood. If a player comes in and doesn't want to work, you either run him off or bench him...I don't care if he's the best player ya got...you appease no one. If it means playing players who aren't even ready to step on the field, ya do it cuz it will pay dividends in the future...after all, if a program is way down what do ya have to lose...always think of the future. Second, you put the players in a simple offense and defense and give them simple rules to follow to make the O and D work. Spreading the field on O and throwin it all over the place isn't the answer...a T, Wishbone, or the use of Wingbacks usually help..Third, you teach your kids physical techniques from day one. Include throwing forearms for blocking (I know folks don't teach that much anymore, but at the HS level the more physical the team is the more respect they will garner early on even if they do lose)..use alot of physical drills in practice even if it does post the risk of having players get banged up...eventually your team will begin to believe they are as tough as anyone in the "HIT" department at least...Finally, don't compromise discipline in coaching the kids...if they screw up make em pay..if they quit..they quit. Shortly in a program like this the kids will start to believe they can win...and after a year or 2 the results will be obvious.
...And if you ain't down with that, I got 2 words for ya....
Sounds great in theory, but that kind of stuff will never work in Pound. The kids there are soft!
"We're back and better than ever"
I've seen it work before in a place quite similar to pound...At the end of year 1 we had 17 kids left on the team out of 35...we kept hearing the "basketball school" talk etc etc...but it does work..and it would work in the Lb. as well.
...And if you ain't down with that, I got 2 words for ya....
But then what happens in Pound when the parents or whatever bunch it is down there that runs the show gets upset when the team goes 0-10 or 1-9? The parents will start yelling that these kids won p-nut league titles and should be winning at the high school level. The coach is down to just 15 players and things look hopeless. So now the coach is getting heat (petitions) about losing instead of playing the best players. Even though the coach is trying to prove a point and build a program.
I have to win the pool and win the cAsh!
If the administrtion feels that this the coach for them, they should stick by him and tell the parents and others to stick it!

Pound Football = Arizona Cardinal Football...have never won...will never win...
"We're back and better than ever"
It was the same way at the school i was talking about...The first year I can remember having only 12 people on the home bleachers for game #9. I never said the coach didn't have to have a thick skin..cuz ya do. But ya do play your best players unless that don't have the desire to work for it...then ya play who works the hardest. Petitions and all of that crap is nothing...fans yelling from the stands and cussing ya is nothing...if a fan wants to confront ya..more power to them...there are ways to either diffuse the situation or let them know that they don't coach, but they pay to watch instead...It can be done if someone wants to get in there and do it his way regardless of the heat.
...And if you ain't down with that, I got 2 words for ya....
I agree with you for the most part plus sofeining the schedule will help (I know playing better schools make you better in the long run but if you can scedule a coupple of wins it would do wonders for the kids confedence and give the kids a taste of winning) you can beef the scedule back up the next cycle when you have the groundwork for you program in place.
BTW what is Pounds schedule for next season?
